DARJEELING

Darjeeling is famous throughout the world for the tea it grows and the great view of Kanchenjunga range of mountains that it offers. ... It is also known for its richness in cultural & natural heritage and the famous toy train that has been declared a UN heritage.

Darjeeling is well known for quite a few items, mainly their large selection of tea and woollen items such as shawls, scarves, hats and jackets. Darjeeling also offers a lot of handicrafts and exotic Tibetan items that are great souvenirs to take back home.

Nepali, Hindi, Bengali and English are the prevailing languages of Darjeeling. Nepali (which is spoken by more than 70% of the population in Darjeeling, Kurseong and Mirik subdivisions) is the dominant language in the hills..

Darjeeling is quite safe in all seasons. But don't push the limits like doing late nights or wandering around in secluded areas. No place on earth would then be safe. Otherwise you should be fine.

Alongside the beautiful scenarios of magnificent nature, Darjeeling city tour and around is famous worldwide for its excellent flavor in tea. Most of the farming areas of Darjeeling are tea-plantations. ... And we all know that Darjeeling, being the 'queen of hills' in India, is a perfect honeymoon destination.

GANGTOK

Within the higher peaks of the Himalaya and with a year-round mild temperate climate, Gangtok is at the centre of Sikkim's tourism industry. Gangtok rose to prominence as a popular Buddhist pilgrimage site after the construction of the Enchey Monastery in 1840.

Snowfall in Gangtok is rare. However, places like Tsomgo Lake, Kupup Lake, Lachung, Lachen, Yumthang and Zero Point witness heavy snowfall during winters. Therefore, winter is the best time to go to Sikkim if someone wants to see snow. However, the cold is harsh during the winter season, so pack right.

You should carry light woolens for the evenings, like a light full sweater, shawl or a jacket. Otherwise normal dress wear is okay like jeans, T-Shirts etc. But do take a pair of shoes or sneakers with socks because it would be required if you plan to go out in the evenings.
